Swiss school

Sustainability Management School (Sumas)

In this school Students are taught all of what isn't taught in most business schools and that is the sustainability of business. The first video "Sustainability Mangement School (SUMAS)" is very comercial, and the intent is to get people interested in this
school and in the academic programs.

The Next video "Sustainable consumption & production: a greener world" talks about the world
and the ecological footprint we as humans are living.

The ecological footprint calculation measures the surface area needed to produce the resources we consume
every day and the surface area needed to absorb the waste generated by the use of these resources.
In this video they cover many subjects relating to our ecological footprints as a generation and it points to the
industry as the area where we can most help the enviorment.

Inconvinient Truth Video

Even though this video is from 2008 this video is real. If humanity does not start thinking sustainable it will in
some years, probably extinct. Global Warming has effects like:

http://usliberals.about.com/od/environmentalconcerns/a/GlobalWarm4.htm

Melting glaciers, polar ice caps and other frozen grounds are causing, and will continue to cause, a plethora of problems for mankind and all living species. The most pressing problems include:
  • Rising sea levels, which lead to flooding and displacement and death of possibly millions of people.
Per the Inconvenient Truth website, "Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide."
  • Fresh-water polar ice caps melting into salt-water oceans alter the ocean gulf-stream patterns that regulate temperatures. This process leads to major temperature-pattern changes around Earth.
  • The changing landscapes and higher temperatures in polar regions will endanger countless animal and plant species, and irretreivably alter the balance of the ecosystem.
  • Ice caps and glaciers serve as sunlight reflectors, bouncing high-temperature sun rays back into space and away from Earth. When these natural structures have diminished greatly or vanished, Earth will be further warmed as the darker oceans absorb much of the sun ray heat.
In my city (Bogotá) I can help the enviorment by taking 5 minutes shorter showers. I can also avoid having my lights on constantly.

Starbucks:
Starbucks has a enviormental policy that consists of having a positive impact in the communities that it is in.
Some of the things Starbucks does to help out the enviorment:
-Use paper and recycled cups to avoid waste.
-Building Green Stores
-Avoiding too much use of energy.
-Help farmers in soil management and crop production.
Companies like Starbucks are not only helping the enviorment or our tomorrow. By doing these things they are also encouraging younger and older consumers to change their ways and help for a better tomorrow. For them and their children. Enviormentalists and regular people who help the enviorment are also interested in coming to eco-friendly stores like star bucks because it supports their morals and beliefs so this is also good for business.
Having an Eco-friendly store can help the enviorment and the earth, but it can also help in business.

GAFE

Google Scipt, Voice and Vault.

With the exception of Google Vaults I reviewed both programs (review below the description) and Made a small summary of what each tool is and what you can do with them.

Google Voice

Google Voice is a tool used like skype to call people with only internet and not with money. If you want to call a phone number then you have to pay fees. Because this is done through Google the money you have to pay is much lower than with a telefone company. I installed it and sued it so I could review it.

Google Voice review

Google Voice felt smoother than skype and the video quality was really good but mostly consistent. It didn't fall or come back all the time. The audio sound was outstanding and for my friends without skype i'm really looking forward to using this app again 8/10

Google Vault

According to Google Google Apps Vault is an add-on for Google Apps that lets you retain, archive, search, and export your organization's email for your eDiscovery and compliance needs. Vault is entirely web-based, so there's no need to install or maintain any software.

With Google Apps Vault, you can:

  • Search your domain's email data
  • Place user accounts (and related data) on litigation hold to preserve email data
  • Notify users of litigation holds and track acknowledgments
  • Manage related searches and litigation holds under a single container, called amatter
  • Share matters among authorized users
  • Export search results in standard file formats
  • Save your search queries
  • Set email retention policies for your domain
This app was unavailable because I am not a google apps administrator.
Google Script

Google script lets you modify certain scripts so you can input codes into many of the google apps to enhance use. For the people without experience this is a challenge but for the more experienced coders this is a fun way to enhance your applications. Click HERE to see a video of how to build your first script on this application.

Google Script Review

I found something simple I could do with Google Scripts. I used "the Simple Mail Merge tutorial shows an easy way to collect information from people in a Spreadsheet using Google Forms then generate and distribute personalized emails. In this tutorial we learn about using “keys,” like ${"First Name"}, in a template text document that is replaced by values from the spreadsheet. This Mail Merge uses HTML saved in the “template” cell of the spreadsheet as the content source."This simple job was really useful for achieving my goals and I can see how it help someone with more experience even more.

Conclusion

Teachers can use Google Script to enhance applications like Google Voice and Google vault to help them with their daily life. This applications can make it easy for teachers to create NGO's and communicate effectively with other teachers.

Google Day #3 and Presentation

Today After finding a lot of research I decided to ask the internet how to be a stockbroker.

Goal for the Day
-What do you need to be a stockbroker and how can I prepare myself to be one

Even though Wiki Answers is not really a reliable source I found this paragraph which appears to be legitimate.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101112094414AAt2onZ

My Dad works in a brokerage firm and he studied law, and in truth there is no college degree directly associated with Brokerage. This helped me towards picking my degree in something that I find interesting that can somehow aid me in my Stockbroking quest.

"Your college major is not important, (No courses in the Academic world prepares you to be a broker). But since your coming into the world of Finance, some of the more helpful majors would be Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics,"

In this Wiki How to be a Stock Brokerhttp://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Stock-Broker

I learned that besides knowing how to trade, you also have to curently be aware of the financial world and expansions all around the world. This means always being aware of the world around you. Watch News, read the newspaper and have friends.

Something Useful I also found is that in order to be a succesful stock broker you should Take classes to keep up with new developments that apply to brokers and the stock exchange

I also learned that the best  bachelor's degrees for being a stock broker can be; finance, business, economics or accounting will provide you with a good financial education.

This page: http://www.securitiesexam.com/become_stockbroker.html
Informed me of the exams and the fees that you have to pass through in order to become a stockbroker.
